In the Northern Hemisphere, we are well into winter now. My body is craving hot drinks and warming foods. I’m writing this cozied up close to the fire, while occasionally looking out the window at the steel gray sky that’s promising snow.
Right now, everything in nature acts to drive us indoors, making our world smaller and smaller, until we have just ourselves and our closest ones to be with.
It’s poetry to me that in the same season that we are being called to be closer to Self, this is when the whales in the Pacific are arriving at their winter homes. Whale represents diving deep into what brings us life abundant – the courageous act of living from our truest essence, which is our Song Self.
So as the whales complete their long journey to the warm-water birthing grounds, we can follow them in spirit: gestating new life in our hearts. Holding in loving tenderness that tiny seed of hope/growth/change that’s been calling to us lately.
This month, the invitation for everyone who is entering the quiet call of winter is this:
Instead of focusing on what’s at the surface, you are going to find the stillness and soul-rest you crave when you dive deep. This may mean deep conversations, or deep sleep (how’s your sleep hygiene?), or delving into heart matters heretofore unplumbed.
Wherever you seek it, trust that rest and restoration will be there when you take the plunge.
If you need guidance in this area, the featured 3-card spread this month is called Migration. It can help illuminate your direction, journey, and destination for whatever spiritual quest you’re ready to embark upon.
